The culture that most of us are more likely to see, as iFunny ex-pats, is faggots in the comment section talking about having gay sex under a drawing of what would otherwise be a girl, or under a drawing of a masculine woman talking about how it "ISN'T GAY YOU FUCKING CHUD!" when they then explain their fantasies of being done in the butt by the character. Very rarely would you see an anime post that wasn't about sex or other sexual and degenerate content, and even less likely to find someone in the comments not making it gay. Terms like femboy, bussy, musclemammies and more attributes to this impression of what anime does to people.

This of course doesn't make anime bad, as you said Western media is much the same. Too much violence in movies and sex on TV... It does however, create the feeling of being an accessory to the community, which for high disgust response individuals is not really a comfortable thought.

To put plainly, I don't like most anime as it is too abrasive on the ears (My Hero Acadamia), too much rape (Goblin Slayer or Beserk), it seems like it's for girls (K-On), and the community it found itself surrounded by, (much like the transvestites and Fallout New Vegas for some reason).

Anime as a medium is not bad, yes, I've even watched a few myself that I've enjoyed. Not many are attacking the medium itself, however, but the content of it. Much like how people say movies and TV shows today suck, they aren't criticizing that it wasn't shot on film but the content and choice of actors.

TL;DR, anime as an art style is fine, the content isn't, all niggers should fucking hang.

I agree with you, for longest time it was difficult to ever associate with anime and liking it for the reason, Guilt by association. But I feel obligated to post this, even if what comes to mind when thinking of anime is mostly coal rather than those things that crown it as a genre/artform. In the future, if it does go extinct, people will only remember the classics and stuff that was actually good/above avg, as those naturally become the only things worth preserving/remembering.

I should really explain my reasoning with topics like number six here at some point in the future if I'm going to continue previous engagements. In short, I can't stand anime. My gut instinct every time a Nipponese Fertility Icon appears is to picture Mr. Enter's mug sneering at SpongeBob cartoons, and it's so violently disgusting that it's painful when I do attempt to give it a shot. There's so many moving pieces to that reaction that it's difficult to plot a main point of contention except for my general — dare I say genetic — hatred of Asians.

Erm ok I literally said that some anime is good and that anime in moderation is like smoking ciggies. Calling Anime a disease comes from the extremely low quality, often times morally degenerate, spam of “I Turned My Mom Into a Crab And Now My Sister’s Boobs Are Huge!” Animes that will eventually suck in anyone who’s more than a casual viewer of anime.

Like, I could say the same thing about the movie industry for the most part. There are good films. But the last 20ish years, the overwhelming majority of films have been subversive garbage to some degree.

I will die for my iAnime oomfs who more often than not have turned out to be 03 series grunts or some other variety of combative militant. Also thanks to NGE’s Asuka (my old acc mascot) I now have a redhead wife. Even tho I have grown out of watching anime I still enjoy the memes and occasional art bits.

I like vocaloid cute+funny girls and memes, but i cant get past the cringe-factor of their music (specifically robotic voices) except maybe a few parts of Miku songs. Do love Miku, shes like a cultural icon. Used to listen to vocaloid unironically. I think it was more like forcing myself to like it by surpressing my shame and cringe/disgust. Kind of how you have to surpress those feelings if you watch depraved-ish anime like sister-romances or High School DXD (i havent watched highschool dxd).

As i have gotten older and more radical, my disgust factor has increased and i watch few anime except ones that catch my eye like Freiren and, oddly, Delicious in Dungeon, which i enjoyed both very much. Though, in 2016 i ended up at a Vocaloid concert and that is one of my favorite experiences ever. Sometimes i even go to an anime convention but they are full of swarths in dangerous cities and im just not feeling the appeal anymore.

I do agree. Some of the videos I posted in my video have a certain tik-tok brainrot quality to their style of editing/animation I can't agree with, even if I like the songs themselves I enjoy greatly. I mean among other things it is quite embarassing still to enjoy anime because of social stigma, because many of the things in circulation about anime being stupid, cringe, or annoying are all true, it's just not all anime does this or is guilty of the worst of it, (fanservice, hypersexualization, annoying/ear-piercing vocal quirks, etc) you have to sort and grade them appropriately. And yeah the 'anime community' at large is most certainly untennable. It's a guilty pleasure at best for anyone with a conscience.

Byep. iAnime was the first part of iFunny I really latched on to back in 2012 or 13. It, like any medium, has at least some parts someone will like.

I may have horribly misinterpreted this but, I feel like this only directly refuted and disproved one of his points. His point on Asian culture being the root of the “perverse” influence anime had me convinced, but you’ve easily changed my mind. Even sectionalism weighed in on the fact that western cartoons had the same issues in its early years.

The rest, though, read like you were trying to explain why the issues with anime brought up by Layne were there in the first place. You did say that you were trying to add nuance, not directly refute it, and you achieved that. All that did however, in my opinion™️, is add context to why his points are subjectively valid.

Layne explains that the content of anime is the core issue, not the medium itself (see: his example of isekai). I do also think Layne’s comparison to cigarettes and alcohol is a little silly, but not entirely without merit. I’m sorry but I’m not wholly convinced that anime isn’t a negative influence.

I say all anime is gay and pedo-coded because it pisses people off which is hilarious, but yeah I agree. Asking if anime is good or bad for you is like asking if food is good or bad for you.

I Did read that post, I liked and commented too, just I didn't bring it to mind whilst writing this. I suppose I had zoomer propaganda on the mind where memes are a legitimate means of propaganda to convert people to our POV on the mind.
